Meetup #558

Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario, and the Technology Policy Team

with Christopher Parsons and Sharly Chan

New technologies and organizations’ practices are regularly placing pressures and challenges on our privacy and transparency rights. This month, Civic Tech Toronto and the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario are highlighting the work to defend, enforce, explain and update these rights.

What is an information and privacy commissioner, and what do they actually do? This session walks through how the IPC protects Ontarians’ privacy and access rights and looks at the kinds of activities and processes to get there, with particular attention to how the Ontario information and privacy commissioner keeps pace with new technologies. By the conclusion of the session, attendees will better understand how the Ontario IPC works for them, some of the past year’s highlight activities, and what we’re paying attention to now as it relates to privacy and technology. https://www.ipc.on.ca/en
